The Power of 10 Leadership Program offers 10 early‐career veterinarians the opportunity to complete a personal and professional development program designed to foster resiliency, leadership capacity, collegiality, emotional intelligence, career satisfaction, and longevity in the field.
The program is comprised of several in-person and virtual educational workshops, trainings and social activities over one year. The MDVMA will provide topic experts, meals, and meeting expenses at no charge to the participant. In addition, MDVMA will provide registration and accommodations for two (2) participants to attend the AVMA Veterinary Leadership Conference in Chicago in January 2024.
Through the Power of 10, you will:
It is imperative that participants’ employers are aware of and supportive of participation in this program because of the time commitment, particularly on weekdays. The program mentors and the MDVMA executive director are always available to speak with employers or managers to help convey the benefits of participating in this program.
With your commitment, attendance and participation is considered mandatory.
Participants must have graduated from a college of veterinary medicine with a DVM or VMD degree within the last seven years* (graduated in the years 2016-2022).
Participants must be a current MDVMA member in good standing or become a member prior to applying.
* Others will be considered on a case‐by‐case basis. All applicants regardless of graduation year will still be considered if someone is particularly interested and has good support.

“I’m excited to bring P10 program to Maryland veterinarians. As new graduates, it’s overwhelming enough to get used to the medical aspect of our jobs, and many of the soft skills that are vital to thrive in our field are over looked. Struggles in the workplace can also feel very isolating. I wanted to introduce a program that will address some of the crucial soft skills needed to flourish in veterinary medicine and bring a sense of camaraderie to the participants.”

It will provide invaluable information and resources to participants that will foster personal and professional growth, leadership skills, and emotional intelligence necessary for a more successful and happy veterinary career.
